It can be hard to decide which company to use for your extinguisher servicing, with so many companies offering the lowest prices and the best service. But what is a low price, and more to the point what is good service?

In reality, there are a handful of companies that offer you 5 star services at a reasonable price, and to try and help you identify what you should be looking for we have created a servicing comparison chart below. The chart should help you to ask the right questions when looking for a suitable company and also make you aware of what the engineers are trying to charge you, and what it is actually costing them.

Servicing costs may be provided upfront but they often don't include basic spare parts and prices for these parts will not be made available to you in advance. Servicing costs will include all basic spare parts needed for the service and a complete price list will be available to you either in advance or on request.

Engineers are usually commission based with targets they must meet. This often leads to unnecessary products being sold to the customer. Engineers are not commission based and work under strict guidelines to ensure that the customer is given the correct information to make decisions.
One-Off Callout Charge

One fixed call-out charge, possibly dependent from location.

Gauge Dot Included

Gauge dots always have to be replaced and cost around £0.01 to an extinguisher engineer

Often gauge dots will not be included within the basic servicing cost and an additional charge of up to £0.50 may be added per gauge dot. Gauge dots will always be included within the basic servicing cost and will not be added to your final bill as additional extras.
O-ring Included

O-rings always have to be replaced and cost around £0.25 to an extinguisher engineer

Often O-rings will not be included within the basic servicing cost and an additional charge of up to £2.00 may be added per O-ring. O-rings will always be included within the basic servicing cost and will not be added to your final bill as additional extras.
Tamper Seal Included

Tamper seals always have to be replaced and cost around £0.05 to an extinguisher engineer

Often tamper seals will not be included within the basic servicing cost and an additonal charge of up to £2.00 may be added per tamper seals. Tamper seals will always be included within the basic servicing cost and will not be added to your final bill as additional extras.
